The Coronado State Monument contains the partially-reconstructed 14th century Tiwa pueblo of Kuaua, which includes a kiva with a repaired mural painting, one of many layers of murals that covered the building's walls. These murals are some of the finest Pre-Columbian mural art in the nation. It is located 10 miles north of Albuquerque in Bernalillo, next to the Rio Grande River. The visitor center displays other mural segments along with ancient Indian and Spanish colonial artifacts.
